Information Collection and Use

DC Enhancements built QR Barcode Scanner as a mobile application. This service is provided by DC Enhancements and is intended for use as is.

The app does not intentionally collect personal data beyond the technical information required for normal app delivery, network requests, and optional support communication.

  • Barcode values, format, timestamps, favorites, notes and tags are stored locally in app history; they are not sent by the reviewed app code to a DC Enhancements service.
  • Camera frames and user-selected images are processed for recognition but are not automatically retained as original images.
  • User-initiated sharing can disclose the selected result or full CSV/JSON export, including scan values, notes, tags and timestamps, to the chosen recipient.

Permissions

The app may request the following Android permissions to provide its features:

  • android.permission.CAMERA — capture photos or video for user-facing features
  • android.permission.VIBRATE — support a user-facing feature that depends on this Android permission

Third-Party Services

The app does not intentionally rely on third-party analytics, ads, or payment SDKs beyond the services required to distribute the app through Google Play.

Ads and In-App Purchases

The app does not include advertising and does not process in-app purchases unless this policy is updated to state otherwise.

Data Retention

Scan history remains only on your device until you delete individual entries, clear history or remove Android app data. Generated QR images are saved only when you choose to save them; temporary share files remain in the app cache until Android or the app clears them.

Children's Privacy

QR Barcode Scanner is not directed to children under 13. It does not require an account, but scan history and sharing can contain sensitive information; parents should supervise those local features where appropriate.

On-Device Scanning and History

Camera frames and images you choose through Android's document picker are processed to recognize barcodes. The app does not automatically save camera frames or the original selected image. Recognized values are stored locally in scan history with format, timestamp, favorite state, notes and tags. A value can contain sensitive information such as a URL, Wi-Fi credentials, contact details, email, SMS, calendar or location data.

Saving and Sharing

You can intentionally share an individual result, a CSV/JSON history export, Wi-Fi data, a URL or a generated QR image through Android's share sheet. The selected content is then sent to the app or recipient you choose and that recipient's privacy terms apply. Generated PNGs are saved to Pictures/QR Barcode Scanner only when you choose to save them; share PNGs are temporary cache files.

Network and Google Components

The reviewed app code has no first-party API, analytics, advertising or crash-reporting flow. Opening a recognized URL or other action deliberately hands it to your selected browser, maps, phone, mail or other handler, which may communicate under its own terms. The app includes Google ML Kit and Google Play Services components for barcode recognition and its effective release manifest includes network permissions; local app integration is designed to perform recognition on-device.
